Leah in the studio

Leah Mayer grew up in the quiet town of Indianola, Iowa; where in high school she discovered her passion for Fine Art. She continued her education and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2007. Immediately after graduation she was awarded a scholarship to Penland School of Crafts.

Steadily expanding her creativity, Leah derives a great portion of her inspiration from her hobbies. She is an avid SCUBA diver and has spent a number of days diving the Great Barrier Reef, as well as other locations around the world. She believes in sharing the beauty of the ocean with the world.

“I want to educate people on the importance of our oceans. It is 70% of our world and we need to take care of the potential research before we kill it off. It is estimated that our coral reefs will be extinct by 2030.”

Mayer Studios opened in the spring of 2008, focusing primarily on commission pieces. Her work can be found in many public and private collections around the United States. Currently, Leah and her husband John reside Clarksville Tennessee.
